To get started you need
- Virus TI synthesizer
- IOS compatible USB to MIDI interface (see compatible interfaces)
- Lightning-naar-USB-camera-adapter (like this)
- an iPad, with “Touch for Virus”
Virus TI synth settings
- MIDI DUMP RX = Enable.
- ProgChange = Enabled
- MultiPrgChg = Disable
- DeviceId = omni
- MIDI Control LoPage = SysEx.
- MIDI Control HiPage = SysEx.
- System MemProtect = Off.
Procedure for connecting
0) turn off the Virus, wait a few moments, and turn it on again.
1) If you use the Roland UM-One: please note it has a little switch. I know it has to be in a specific position to make it work whit iPads. Please read the um-one manual and make sure this switch is set correctly.
2) Connect ipad and your Virus TI using the MIDI-USB interface and the camera adapter
3) Startup Touch for Virus
4) in Touch for Virus: go to the setup page (in the top menu on the right side)
5) in the middle of the setup page, your MIDI to USB interface should be listed, now tap on it to select it.
6) In Touch for Virus: close the setup page, and open up the on screen keyboard, it now probably works.
When you press a key, or change a parameter in the app: notice the screen of the virus TI. It will show icons indicating incoming SYSEX data when changing a parameter in the app, or incoming MIDI data when touching the onscreen keyboard in the app. This data might be ignored by Virus TI in case of a MIDI Device ID or MIDI channel mismatch.
7) if it does not work, check the midi channel: on the setup page you can set on which midi channel the keyboard is sent to the Snow. On the Snow you can set the midi channel it is listening to in the config menu. You must make sure the app and the snow work with the same channel
8) also make sure the midi device id is set to omni in both the app ánd on the snow, or it should be set to the same number. when you only have a single Virus TI in your setup, set it to omni.
